Medal of Freedom

This week the White House announced that President Obama will award the Medal of Freedom to Bill Russell at a ceremony early next year. You can read the text of the official announcement by following this link. Russell's unique contributions toward integration, both on and off the court, are cited. The list of other honorees is impressive and diverse, including former President Bush (41, not 43) and Yo-Yo Ma.
